Army reports spike in suicides

WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- The Army says twice as many members of the National Guard and Reserves took their own lives in 2010 than the year before.

The increase involved members of the Guard and Reserve who were not on active duty at the time.

The Army says suicides among active duty soldiers dropped slightly in 2010 after five years of record increases.

The number of active duty suicides declined in all services except for the Air Force last year.
