Family files lawsuit in fatal parking garage collapse
MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- The family of a 15-year-old Milwaukee-area boy is suing four firms involved in the construction of the parking garage that collapsed last summer, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Jared Kellner was killed when a 13 1/2-ton panel fell seven feet off the O'Donnell Park garage during Summerfest.
Defendants in the case are Advance Cast Stone of Random Lake, J. H. Findorff & Son Inc. of Madison, C.D. Smith Construction of Fond du Lac, and Dietz Drafting and Design of Burlington.
The precast panels and possibly the underlying O'Donnell ramp walls were defective and improperly installed, according to the lawsuit. The companies "concealed and/or misrepresented the deficiencies or defects in the construction," the lawsuit says.
