MADISON (WKOW) -- As expected, Gov. Scott Walker's administration kills a plan to use biofuels at a UW power plant.
The Charter Street plant, which now burns coal, will be converted to run strictly on natural gas boilers.
Gov. Jim Doyle and UW officials had planned to add a biomass boiler into the mix -- a boiler that would burn organic materials like switchgrass.
But Walker says the extra cost of burning biofuels -- estimated at $100 million -- is simply too high.
