ROMULUS, Mich. (WKOW) -- A section of a terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Airport has been evacuated after a suspicious box was found near the plane loading zone for cargos and luggage, authorities say.
Airport spokesman Mike Conway says the box was found around 7:15 a.m. Passengers were then asked to leave part of Concourse B at the McNamara Terminal because of "an abundance of caution."
Planes that were to use gates at the concourse were able to use other gates at the airport, according to Conway. The concourse is generally used by regional aircraft.
He says information about why the security officials considered the box suspicious is not yet available. The airport is about 17 miles southwest of Detroit.
