Gabrielle Giffords' husband will return to space in April
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (WKOW) -- Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' husband Mark Kelly has made his decision. The astronaut will go to space in April.
An official close to the space shuttle program confirmed Friday morning that Kelly will be aboard Endeavor's two-week mission for its final flight. The information has not been made public, but Kelly will hold a news conference at Johnson space Center in Houston on Friday afternoon.
Kelly took leave from training after Giffords was gunned down at a Tucson shopping center on January 8. She is currently undergoing rehab in Houston.
Kelly debated whether to step down as commander of the mission. Liftoff is planned for April 19.
