WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- First Lady Michelle Obama says the president has quit smoking cigarettes.
On Tuesday, at the White House, the first lady told reporters her husband has not smoked in almost a year. She says the president has always wanted to quit, and she's very proud of him for overcoming what she called a personal challenge.
The president has discussed his struggles with nicotine addiction. In June of 2009, he admitted he still sneaked an occasional puff. The White House last addressed the topic in December, when Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said he hadn't seen Obama smoke in nine months.
