4,600 pro-labor supporters "rage" inside Monona Terrace with famous guitarist
MADISON (WKOW) -- About 4,600 pro-labor supporters gathered inside Monona Terrace Monday for a concert protest featuring a former "Rage Against the Machine" band member.
Lead guitarist Tom Morello spoke to the crowd and performed. His band in the '90s was all about political uprisings, and he stressed his own union connections to the crowd.
"For 22 years, I've been a member of Los Angeles Musicians Local 47. I'm also a proud red-card-carrying member of the Industrial Workers of the World. It's an honor to stand shoulder to shoulder with you in solidarity," Morello told the crowd.
Now the seventh day of protests, demonstrators say they're just as fired up as on day one.
"It's been a fight, it's been a struggle, but it's worth it. All the way," said one member of the Teaching Assistants' Association.
The fire fighters' union announced during the event that a number of fire fighters from around the state will be sleeping inside the Capitol Saturday night.
