CAIRO (WKOW) – An Egyptian panel has recommended instating presidential term limits instead of the current open-ended presidency.
The eight-member panel amending the country's constitution suggested limiting a president to two consecutive four-year terms.
The panel also said the judiciary should oversee the election process to prevent rigged elections.
The changes are key opposition demands.
Egypt's Armed Forces Supreme Council appointed the panel on Feb. 15 to recommend constitutional amendments that would pave the way for democratic elections later this year.
