PHOENIX, Ariz. (WKOW) -- The Republican-led Arizona Senate is on record as supporting Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in his fiscal belt-tightening efforts that include restricting public worker's collective bargaining rights.
The Senate voted Thursday for a resolution co-sponsored by all 61 Republican senators and representatives. That vote sends the measure to the Arizona House.
Republican Sen. Sylvia Allen of Snowflake says Arizona lawmakers want to demonstrate support for Gov. Walker's efforts to fix Wisconsin's budget shortfall because Arizona faces a similar challenge.
Democrats say the resolution is a waste of time and money because Republicans have already sent a letter to Wisconsin in support of Gov. Walker. They say commenting on Wisconsin's situation does not speak to Arizona's own problems.
