Security tightened this weekend at the Capitol

MADISON (WKOW) -- Day 19 of protests, and thousands were back under the Capitol rotunda, but not without some new rules.

Rules were posted at the entrances of the Capitol.

The list from authorities bans backpacks, sleeping bags, musical instruments and animals, among other items listed.

Every person who entered the Capitol was wanded by authorities.

Representative Kelda Roys says she is proud of how the protesters have handled themselves these past three weeks.

"The protesters have complied in full with the courts decision we are demonstrating for democracy," said Rep. Roys.

A court decision was made Thursday - banning protesters from sleeping at the Capitol.

Meanwhile many of the signs have been taken down.

Authorities say some remnants of tape from the signs are still on the marble walls.

The DOA estimates it could cost at least $347,000 to clean up.
