MADISON (WKOW) -- Paychecks have been mailed to the 14 Senate Democrats who fled Wisconsin last month in order to avoid a vote on a bill taking away most collective bargaining rights from most public workers.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said Tuesday he decided to mail the checks to the missing Senate Democrats on last Friday despite the fact that the Senate had voted to keep them as a way to pressure Democrats to return.
Fitzgerald said he mailed the checks because it was not clear whether or not the law allowed for the checks to be kept more than a couple days.
