Fatal New Year's crash leads to more drunk driving awareness
MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- Family and friends of a Wauwatosa woman killed by an alleged drunk driver hope to raise awareness of the dangers of drunk driving.
Corrie Damske, 34, was headed home at 7:15 on New Year's morning after spending the night at a friend's house. She was hit head-on by Leopoldo Salas Gayton, who was driving the wrong way on 1-94. Gayton was allegedly driving drunk.
Damske's family and friends plan to unveil an electronic billboard Saturday. The billboard is in the Interstate 94 corridor where Damske died.
The billboard will be revealed to be timed with St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
