UW students from Japan react to earthquake, tsunami
MADISON (WKOW) -- Many Japanese students studying at UW-Madison are worried about their friends and family back home.
Senior Motoya Higashi is from a town along Japan's Pacific coast. When he heard the news of the earthquake, he tried to call his mother, but there was no answer.
"When I am standing here talking right now, my friends and family are going to be under the building. So I really don't know what I should do right now. To be in the United States, there's not much I can do," said Higashi.
Higashi eventually got his mother on the phone. She is doing fine tonight.
