MADISON (WKOW)-- One woman dies every minute from heart disease, according to the American Heart Association.
14 local women are wrapping up a 12-week challenge to improve their heart health.
WKOW teamed up with the American Heart Association to bring awareness to heart disease and specifically women.
On Tuesday, participants had the final screening to see where things like their blood pressure and cholesterol stand after the challenge.
"My cholesterol went down, my HDL went up," said Barb Meister. "I took some inches off in the process, so I'm very excited."
"One of the main things I learned is forgiving myself for missteps I have made," said Kaysi McGhie. "You know, not saying I didn't do this today. It was a huge lesson to learn."
WKOW along with the challenge participants and hundreds of others will celebrate heart healthy changes on Thursday, April 7th at a luncheon.
