MADISON (WKOW) -- The Department of Consumer Protection says it was notified of a suspicious email that has been popping up in people's inboxes.
The message claims to be from an Army General, asking the recipient for money to bring a soldier home from Iraq. DATCP officials say the email is fraudulent.
DATCP says there are also fraudulent emails out there asking for donations for disaster relief in Japan.
They advise people to always be cautious about wiring money to strangers for any reason.
