Even as plans to appeal the ruling move forward, Republican leaders in both the senate and assembly insist they followed the law from the start.More >>
MADISON (WKOW) -- Senate minority leader Mark Miller, a Democrat from Monona, issued a statement in support of Friday's temporary restraining order blocking publication of Gov. Scott Walker's budget repair law.
"Republicans have engaged in extraordinary procedural shenanigans to try to advance their assault on the rights of Wisconsin's middle class and working families," Miller said.
"Government should be about protecting people's rights, not taking them away. It is absolutely appropriate for the judicial branch to be asked to determine if Senate and Assembly Republicans broke any laws in their rush to pass Governor Walker's power grab stripping workers of their rights, rewarding their campaign contributors and threatening programs that provide health insurance for working families and prescription drugs for seniors."
