MBABANE, Swaziland (WKOW) -- Swaziland's king fired a high-ranking defense official after he failed to provide food to soldiers along the country's border.
The move may signal that the king is trying to avoid turmoil like that currently found in North Africa.
About 7,000 pro-democracy protestors swarmed the capital yesterday. King Mswati III fired his defense official a few hours later.
Mswati III is the last absolute monarch in sub-Saharan South Africa. Swaziland has been ruled by a king for almost a century. He also warned soldiers not to be disloyal, citing turmoil in other countries.
