Shopbop to transform East Washington Avenue area

MADISON (WKOW)-- Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and The Mullins Group announced plans for a major business development on East Washington Avenue Wednesday.

Shopbop is one of the world's leading online women's fashion retailers. The company will lease offices from The Mullins Group at 1245 and 1301 East Washington Avenue. 200 employees will make the move to the downtown location. Shopbop general manager Jeff Yurcisin said there are currently a dozen available positions with the retailer. He anticipates dozens more will open throughout the year.

The East Washington area is a major focus of economic development in the city and officials anticipate the move will transform the area into the next major urban employment center in Madison. Cieslewicz believes Shopbop's move will be very important for the economic future of the city.

Shopbop currently occupies three buildings in the Town of Madison near Rimrock Road. The move will allow room for expansion in the company.
