LOS ANGELES (WKOW) -- In a world of rising ticket prices and bad reviews, it may be getting easier to get the best seats in the house. The latest numbers show less Americans are choosing to see films in the theater.
At the box office, attendance is down 20 percent compared with 2010. If you ask industry experts, they say blame movies like "Sucker Punch" and "Battle: Los Angeles."
It's simple to see why Americans are choosing to stay at home with the rising prices. The average ticket price is now $7.89. At some IMAX or 3D theaters, tickets cost $19.
With sluggish sales in the first quarter of 2011, experts say they don't expect to see a spike in sales. However, the Summer Blockbuster may bring a change to bring audiences back to the theaters.
