GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- Volunteers in Green Bay came together Saturday to discuss their effort to recall Democratic Senator Dave Hansen.
Organizers say they'll have enough signatures to trigger a recall election.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald was on hand to lend support to the recall effort and provide an update on the governor's budget plans.
He said, "The Republicans are going back in on April 5th, Tuesday, to once again move forward on our agenda of job creation and economic development. I'm hopeful that Senator Hansen shows up and the other Democrats for a floor period, but we're ready to move forward."
Outside, hundreds of protesters rallied in defense of Senator Hansen. They say they're supporting the middle class.
Mike Friedman, protester, said, "You don't have to be in a union or not in a union you still want to have your rights as a worker... have your say in what's going on in your life and that's what we're here for."
Green Bay Police say the crowd peaked at about 400 people. That included demonstrators on both sides of the issue.
