MADISON (WKOW) -- A summer-long construction project on Williamson Street will begin Monday, April 11.
City engineers and contractor RG Huston will begin reconstructing Willy Street between S. Blount St. and S. Thornton Ave. Workers will replace underground utilities, as well as all lanes of pavement, curb and gutter.
One lane of westbound (inbound) traffic will be maintained throughout the project. Eastbound traffic will be detoured from Blair Street onto E. Washington Ave. There will be no parking on Willy Street within project limits.
Workers will also resurface S. Ingersoll St. between E. Wilson St. and Jenifer St.
City traffic engineering officials say access to all businesses will be maintained throughout the project. Intersections will remain open when possible.
The project is expected to last through October 21, 2011.
Information and updates will be available on the City of Madison Downtown Construction Project Website.
