Officials: 12 tornadoes hit Wis. on Sunday

MADISON (WKOW) -- Officials with the National Weather Service added two more tornadoes to Sunday's total, bringing it to 12. That's a new record for one day in April.

The previous record was ten in 1984.

The storm hit central and northern Wisconsin. One tornado hit Adams County in the Cottonville area, it was an EF-1.

The strongest that day was an EF-3 that touched down in Lincoln County, north of Wausau.

The National Weather Service is continuing to assess damage and could determine even more tornadoes touched down last Sunday.
