MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- According to the American Institute of Architects, two of the nation's top 10 green projects for 2011 are located in Wisconsin.
One is an addition to the First Unitarian Society Meeting House in Madison. The structure is a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Nationals Historic Landmark Meeting House first completed in 1951 before undergoing a 20,000-square foot addition. Its features include CO2 sensors that trigger a ventilation system and a vegetated roof.
The other project is the OS House in Racine. It's located in a downtown neighborhood that exemplifies how a small, sustainable residence can be built on a moderate budget.
The home has been granted the highest certification for energy efficiency and sustainable practices and has won four AIA awards
