Assistance for tornado victims in Adams County

ADAMS COUNTY (WKOW) -- There is still help out there for families and businesses impacted by tornados in Adams County.

Landowners in need of debris cleanup and personal needs can call 211. Adams County Planning and Zone Department will waive applicable fees for those in affected areas; they can be reached at 608-339-4222. Although Red Cross teams are no longer set up in the area, those affected by the tornado can contact the Red Cross at 877-618-6628.

Those interested in making a monetary donation to the tornado victims of the April 10th disaster should send a check to the Grand Marsh State Bank at P.O. Box 10, Adams, WI 53910, made payable to the "Adams County April 2011 Tornado Relief Fund."

Wildfire season is here and burning should be the last alternative. DNR burning permits are required to burn leaves, brush, pine needles and clean or untreated wood only. Alternatives to burning are disposal at a local transfer site that accepts brush. Remember to check daily before burning by calling 1-888-WIS BURN (947-2876) or visit the DNR's website.
