MADISON (WKOW) -- A group seeking to recall Sen. Sheila Harsdorf turned in over 23,000 signatures at the Government Accountability Board offices Tuesday afternoon.
Harsdorf is currently serving as a Republican senator from the tenth senate district, which includes parts of Northwestern Wisconsin.
The group filed over seven thousand more signatures than they had to in order to prompt a recall.
One volunteer, Nan Lambert, says the official filing is a sweet payoff for the hard work put in by the group.
"This is sort of my reward for all my hard work with my friends. It was really fun to come down here and do this officially and make it happen," said Lambert.
The group entered the GAB offices through sleet and snow, then made its way up to the third floor to file its petition.
The whole process took only about ten minutes. But volunteers said they know this is "just the beginning" of their fight.
