Capitol security remains high despite end to protests
MADISON (WKOW) -- Security at the Capitol is still tight weeks after most pro-union protestors left the building.
Metal detectors and law enforcement line the hallways near two entrances. Six other ground level entrances have been closed for two weeks. Protests have been limited to the rotunda's ground floor.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Administration says it constantly evaluates security at the Capitol. She gave no indication when the added security might be lifted.
A lawsuit is pending against the agency for not returning the Capitol to the way it was in January, before thousands of protesters descended on the Capitol in opposition to Gov. Scott Walker's bill stripping most public workers of collective bargaining rights. A Dane County judge will hear arguments at the end of May.
