Local weddings change due to Royal Wedding

MADISON (WKOW) -- The wedding of Prince William to now Princess Catherine, may have taken place in England, but it's impact will be felt throughout the bridal industry worldwide. As well as, here locally. Elishah Oesch talked to the experts about changes you can expect to see in weddings and bridal attire.

After months of waiting, the secret is revealed. An estimated 2 billion people watched for now Princess Catherine to emerge from her car and show off her dress. We were watching here at the WKOW studios. Pat Brady from the Wedding Planner and Guide joined us to view the wedding live here at WKOW studios. She says the dress, designed by Sara Burton, is understated but beautiful. She says, it was a total hit, and a quote " A plus! A plus, A plus, plus plus. It was beautiful." According to Brady, the now famous Kate dress is about to be all the rage here at local bridal shops, like Vera's House of Bridals. You can expect to see the whole industry change. Tricia Roessel the corporate manager at Vera's says, "I think we're going to see lots of lace, more formal and longer trains." Another change you can also expect to see thanks to the Royal Wedding are tiaras.  They are back in full force.

Pat Brady also remarked on the changes coming to the bridal industry. She says, "This neckline, these dresses are wonderful examples of what we'll be seeing and I'm sure they'll be more to come." More to come might be an understatement. Here's how soon you can expect to see them for sale, according to Tricia Roessel. She says, "I would think within the month or six weeks. When Lady Di got married that's how quickly the manufacturers were able to redo a dress."

But, the day is not just about the dress. It's important to remember it's about the marriage.  And whether local brides want to copy Kate's look, or go with something else, one thing is for sure: Every bride hopes to have the same reaction from their groom, that Prince William had for his bride. He said, "You look beautiful."
