MADISON, Wis. - Edgewood College men's basketball head coach Todd Adrian has been involved with Coaches vs. Cancer for years, but even he can't help but be a little surprised at what he and his fellow coaches have accomplished. With the fourth annual "Shooting for a Cure" Gala to raise money for the American Cancer Society, Coaches vs. Cancer Wisconsin is threatening to break the half million dollar level in funds raised.
The 2011 Coaches vs. Cancer "Shooting for a Cure" Gala will take place on Saturday, May 7 at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin. Coaches Bo Ryan, Rob Jeter, Jeff Gard, Luke Reigel, and Adrian are teaming up to host a night of fun to raise awareness and funding to find a cure for a disease that affects every one of us. ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas will be the guest speaker for the event. The 2011 Gala will include a live and silent auction, local entertainment and fabulous dinner. Auction items are donated from business across the state and include some one-of-a-kind offers.
"We are extremely thankful for the generosity of so many people over the past four years," said Adrian. "When my wife, Jennie, and I committed to fighting cancer we hoped this event would grow, but didn't it's been satisfying to see how large it's become. To go over the $500,000 mark this year is an amazing accomplishment. The coaches involved, sponsors, past attendees and wonderful committee members have really made a difference in peoples' lives."
