MADISON (WKOW) -- The summer is here and so are numerous fun runs and walks, both for good causes and for fun.

Participating in these runs is a great thing, however, it can be dangerous if you don't train properly for it. 

The ladies at the Dane County YMCA gave us all some tips on how to get started on a training program. First you need to start off on a treadmill at a slow walking pace, and gradually work up to a slow and then a faster run. The key though, is to make sure that you train in intervals.
