DANE COUNTY (WKOW) – The recent storms are a reminder of the need to be prepared for any kind of emergency.
Dane County Emergency Management says first you need everything from a weather radio to an emergency kit.
Then, you need the knowledge.
Take a first-aid class and learn about the different kinds of warnings issued when a storm is expected.
Finally, have all important phone numbers programmed in your cell phone and set a place to meet with family in the event of an emergency.
An Emergency Management spokesman says Dane County is ready for any type of disaster.
"We have procedures in place to respond to emergencies, whether they be tornadoes or floods. We take an all-hazards approach to planning," J. McLellan said.
McLellan says be sure to have a plan for when you are not at home. A lot of emergencies happen during work hours.
