MADISON (WKOW) -- The National Weather Service confirmed five tornadoes hit parts of the state on Sunday.
They caused at least $15 million in damage.
Two tornadoes hit Green Lake County. They both rated F0 on the 0-5 Fujita scale of intensity.
An F1 hit Monroe County. An F2 hit La Crosse County and another F2 traveled 37 miles from Monroe County into southern Portage County.
Much of the damage is in the city of La Crosse. The EF2 tornado left nearly $9.5 million damage to homes and businesses. Wisconsin Emergency Management says nine homes were destroyed and 28 had major damage. Nine businesses in La Crosse had major damage.
Emergency officials estimate at least 85 percent of the damage statewide will be covered by insurance, which means it's unlikely the area will get federal assistance.
