MADISON (WKOW) -- Changing up your old workout routine can make a significant difference in your health and your exercise goals. One of the best ways to do that, is by incorporating interval training on the treadmill. Most people tend to pick a steady pace and either run or walk at that pace, however, you can burn calories faster, by changing up your speed and your incline on the treadmill.
Something you should keep in mind though while you do interval training is safety. On the treadmill there is a latch you can attach to yourself that will automatically shut off the treadmill should you slip and fall. You should also be aware of your heart rate and take breaks if you need them.
Wednesday morning, the ladies from the Dane County YMCA showed us all how to interval train safely and effectively on Wake Up Wisconsin.
