Peshtigo teacher resigns after sending threatening email
PESHTIGO (WKOW) -- High school chorus instructor Rob Schneider resigned after sending a profane, threatening email to a state lawmaker who supported Gov. Scott Walker's collective bargaining bill using his work email account.
Schneider told authorities he was upset and intoxicated when he wrote the email to Republican Rep. John Nygren in March after mass protests at the Wisconsin Capitol over Gov. Walker's budget repair bill, which stripped the collective bargaining rights of public employees.
In a statement released by the school district, Schneider said he had accepted responsibility for his actions. The school board met in closed session Tuesday night, then convened in open session and accepted Schneider's resignation, according to WLUK-TV.
After investigation of Schneider's email, the state determined there was no safety threat.
