MADISON (WKOW)-- The Madison School District could face sanctions for failing to meet "No Child Left Behind" standards.
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction says the district didn't make enough improvement in reading or math scores.
16 schools in the district also fell short of one or more standards set in the law, including East, Memorial and La Follette high schools.
Statewide, 228 schools and six districts missed at least one of the goals for the first time.
