MADISON (WKOW) -- Gas prices are constantly on the rise these days. So many young people are looking for ways to make the car of the future. They want the car to be energy efficient, cost effective, and of course good for the environment. Such are the goals of the EcoCar Challenge, that several students from around the country are participating in, including students from the UW.
For three years, 16 North American teams have been running tests, adding elements and switching components on their vehicles with these goals in mind. Now it comes down to the final voting to see who will win the EcoCAR Challenge. Using real world engineering processes modeled after GM's Global Vehicle Development Process teams integrated their advanced technology solutions into a vehicle donated by GM. It gives valuable hands on experience in engineering practices and the results could be huge for both motorists and the car industry at large.
