MADISON (WKOW) -- Candidates who plan to challenge the three Democrats in the Wisconsin State Senate slated for recall have until Tuesday to submit their nomination papers.
Five people have registered as of Monday, according to a state elections website, however, they have until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday to submit final paperwork and have it certified.
The first election date for Sens. Jim Holperin, (D-Conover), Dave Hansen, (D-Green Bay), and Robert Wirch, (D-Pleasant Prairie), is July 19. If a primary is required, that day will be a primary election, and the general election will be held on August 16.
Six Republicans are facing their first election date, a primary for Democrats facing them, on July 12. Those Republicans include Sens. Alberta Darling (R-River Hills), Dan Kapanke (R-La Crosse), Luther Olsen (R-Ripon), Randy Hopper (R-Fond du Lac), Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay), and Sheila Harsdorf (R-River Falls).
The Democratic primary elections in those races are due to Republicans filing "protest candidates" in the Democratic races.
The general election for those races will be August 9.
