Man accused of plotting to kill abortion doctor will have mental competency exam
MADISON (WKOW) -- The attempted homicide case against a man accused of plotting to kill a Madison abortion clinic doctor is on hold while he goes through a mental competency exam.
Dane County Circuit Judge David Flanagan says the state will make use of the competency exam ordered in the federal case against 63-year-old Ralph Lang. The Marshfield man faces state and federal charges after he allegedly told investigators he planned to kill abortion providers at Planned Parenthood in Madison.
Police arrested Lang at a Madison motel after his gun discharged while he was loading it.
