Supreme Court rules on family feud over beef jerky business

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) -- A dispute over a family beef jerky business has come to an end after a six year battle.

Jay Link accused his father, John Link and his brother, Troy Link with unfairly squeezing him out of the family's giant beef jerky company Minong-based Link Snacks Inc. in 2005.

Thursday, the state Supreme Court upheld $5 million in damages for Jay Link. A Wisconsin trial court ordered Jack Link to pay Jay Link $5 million in damages, but a judge reduced the amount after Jack Link filed a challenge. An appeals court reinstated the full award, saying Jack Link filed his paperwork too late. Thursday, the Supreme Court agreed.

Link Snacks is known for its "Messin' with Sasquatch" ads.
