MADISON (WKOW) -- Parents, teachers and union supporters gathered at the state street entrance of the Capitol today, they say - to save our schools.
Organizers say they held this rally - to branch off from public school supporters gathering in Washington D.C. Rally supporters claim public schools are under attack, and Wisconsin is ground zero in the fight.
"We're choosing concrete and roads over our children and by cutting our budget over $800 million. I don't see the benefit for our children," said Milwaukee Teacher Rachel Schuleter.
The demands include ending testing used for student, teacher and school evaluation, and make curriculum developed by local communities.
