Call for Action tracks down electrician

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) - What started as an annoying situation in Nancy Tieg's bathroom, turned into six months of frustration.

"He doesn't call me. He doesn't write to me. All I get is another bill," said Tiegs.

Nancy hired an electrician who installed this vent in her bathroom and billed her $420.

"He said he could guarantee he could fix the problem," said Tiegs.

But in the following days, she noticed no improvement with the leak.

"Every time I would shower, it would condense on the ceiling and run down my walls," said Tiegs.

She says she called the electrician multiple times and got no response She even began writing letters.

"I will pay the agreed upon price of 420 only when the job is done," read Tiegs.

Three letters later, all Nancy got were late fees tacked on her bill. Frustrated, she just decided to pay the bill and have her brother fix the problem in her bathroom. Yet, even after she sent the check, she got another bill with another late fee! At wit's end, Nancy asked Call for Action for help. We tried to track down the electrician, who's business address in Richland Center led us to a home up for sale. We called his listed numbers for 2 weeks with no return call. Until finally, we heard something back. We asked him why he hasn't been in touch with Nancy Tiegs. He blamed it on a "personal issue" and that his move.. has left his "stuff in disarray". He also said that his billing is done by a "third party".

In any event, he agreed to settle with Nancy - charging her just for the vent and not for work left undone. It saves her $270 and the headache of getting any more bills in the mail.

"Thank you so much for the effort you guys put in to getting this solved," said Tiegs.
