City files restraining order against bar

MADISON (WKOW) -- According to Madison police, a Dane County judge approved a restraining order against R Place on Park.

Police say Asst. City Attorney Jennifer Zilavy filed an application for a temporary restraining order in Dane County Circuit Court seeking to restrain and enjoin the bar from continuing to maintain and permit a public nuisance.  Judge Patrick Fiedler reviewed the matter and ordered R Place be restrained and enjoined from opening or otherwise operating.

Judge Fiedler also ordered a hearing on a motion for temporary injunction be held within five days.  The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, September 27 at 3:00 p.m. in Room 4D, Branch 12 of the Dane County Circuit Court.

A liquor license complaint filed by Asst. City Attorney Zilavy before the common council and the ALRC remains unresolved at this time.

The action comes after three people were shot early Friday morning near R Place on Park, which is on the 1800 block of S. Park St.  Authorities say the victims will survive their injuries. Police spokesman Joel DeSpain said it's not known if the victims were patrons of R Place.
