Call for Action helps Baraboo man get his "mountain music"

MADISON (WKOW) -- Gary Eastman will tell you, nowadays, his feet don't take him far. But get him in his red jeep and he's moving. It's not the wheels, it's the music.

In this age of digital downloads, the 64-year-old still finds joy in cassette tapes.

"That's a problem, I've got too many," said Gary.

The Vietnam War veteran likes what he calls "knee slappin', toe tappin" mountain music: blue grass and country gospel. But Gary's cassette collection had been missing a few tracks for months. He ordered ten tapes from a catalogue back in February.

"I ordered Jim Reeves, beloved songs of faith," said Gary.

But when nothing came in the mail, he began calling and even wrote the company a letter.

"Every time I called they started hanging up on me," said Gary. "Then I called you (Call for Action) and within an hour of calling, you they called me back."

After months of waiting, Call for Action helped Gary finally get his order. The Beautiful Music Company of New York said something must have gone wrong in shipping.

But since Gary was such a patient customer, the company decided to give him six additional tapes for free.

"They sent me 16 of what I like, so that's why I say it paid to call you," said Gary.

It's just a little more of that mountain music, to get Gary knee slappin' and toe tappin' down the road.
