70-year-old woman struck and killed by car on Madison's west side
MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Police confirm a 70-year-old female pedestrian was struck and killed by a car heading eastbound on Mineral Point Road in Madison Sunday.
Police say at about 12:36 p.m. the elderly woman was not in a cross walk as she tried to cross the street near Mineral and High Point Road. A driver heading east struck the woman. She was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her name is not being released at this time, pending family notification.
At this time, the eastbound lane of Mineral Point Road at the High Point intersection is closed, as police investigate.
Preliminary investigation shows the driver was not impaired, and no charges will be filed at this time.
