MADISON (WKOW) - It's not often that a stranger comes to your door and you let them inside your bedroom. Jennifer Geyer will likely never do that again.
"I just feel very helpless," she said. "You are trusting. You let a younger girl in who is just trying to do her job and it turns out like this."
The girl, captured in cell phone video, was selling a Kirby vacuum. And this is what she left behind: a hole in Jennifer's $1,600 pillow top mattress.
It happened when the sales girl took her 'vacuum demonstration' from the floor to Jennifer's bed.
"Apparently, you should vacuum your mattress to pull out dust mites," said Jennifer.
But the powerful Kirby sucked out more than that.
"It was pulling some of the stuffing out of the mattress, so we had her stop immediately," said Jennifer.
The girl apparently called in her boss, who you can see in a still-frame of the video.
"When they had left after this had happened, they had promised they were going to fix it," said Jennifer.
But a couple months later, the hole is still there and because of the damage, the mattress' 10 year warranty is now null and void. She says the company that the girl worked for "Hawkeye" hasn't wanted to take responsibility.
"So we have been going back and forth trying to find someone who will listen to us and help us and it's just become impossible," said Jennifer.
Call for Action got involved and with some help and mediation, from the Kirby company, Hawkeye struck a deal - agreeing to pay Jennifer $1,600 in exchange for the mattress or just give her a thousand dollars cash.
"I think the second option of the cash payment is a better one," said Jennifer. "I think now we can at least replace the mattress and move forward. I do so appreciate all of your help. It was definitely wonderful working with you."
