The "Bucky Wagon" hits the road again

MADISON (WKOW) -- The "Bucky Wagon" is on the road again.

The old fire engine was a game day tradition for years until its aging brakes and mechanical system made it unsafe to drive.

The Wisconsin Alumni Association called the College of Engineering for help. Faculty and students gave the wagon an overhaul. After more than two years of work, the "Bucky Wagon" is ready to roll through campus again.

"This one will actually be an all-electric Bucky Wagon and we can do about 40 to 45 miles before it needs to be recharged, so we can go to all the pep rallies around campus before the game," said Glenn Bower, a faculty associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The "Bucky Wagon" makes its public debut Friday at 6 p.m. at the Homecoming Parade.
