MADISON (WKOW) -- A legal challenge forced the association that oversees Wisconsin high school sports to push back the release of the 224-team football playoff field.
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association is now set to release it Monday instead of Friday.
Shorewood/Milwaukee Messmer is challenging a WIAA ruling that the team is ineligible because it is in the fourth and finaly year of a playoff ban on teams that drop out of their conferences.
A Wisconsin State Journal report says Shorewood/Messmer left the Woodland Conference in 2007.
The school argues it should be eligible because it joined the Midwest Classic Conference this season.
WIAA postponed releasing its pairings until Monday when a judge is expected to rule on the case.
