The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is urging trick-or-treaters to go green this Halloween and help eliminate any unwelcome trash.
DNR officials recommend using reusable bags such as cloth or canvas bags or even an old pillowcase. They also suggest making costumes from old clothes and household items, instead of throwing out a store-bought costume after a single use.
Other suggestions to make this Halloween green include adding jack-o-lanterns to compost bins, walking rather than driving during trick-or-treating and disposing of candy wrappers in the trash.
