MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers announced their postseason award winners as voted by members of the Milwaukee Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) on Monday. A total of eight ballots were cast for each award, assigning three points for first place, two for second and one for third.

Left fielder Ryan Braun was voted Brewers Most Valuable Player, receiving all eight first-place votes (24 points).

He was followed by first baseman Prince Fielder (15 points) and closer John Axford (6 points). This marks Braun's first Brewers Most Valuable Player Award.

Braun batted .332 with 33 HR, 111 RBI and 33 stolen bases in 150 games this season. He led the National League in slugging percentage (.597) and extra-base hits (77) and became just the second player in franchise history to produce a 30/30 season, joining Tommy Harper (1970).

Closer John Axford was voted Brewers Most Valuable Pitcher. Axford (23 points) received all but one first-place vote. He was followed by Yovani Gallardo (15 points - 1 first-place vote), who earned the award in each of the previous two seasons, and Zack Greinke (8 points).

Axford went 2-2 with a 1.95 ERA and a franchise-record 46 saves in 74 relief appearances this season. His 46 saves tied the Braves' Craig Kimbrel for the National League lead. He posted a 0.59 ERA over his last 30 games (30.1 IP, 2 ER), including 10 consecutive scoreless appearances to end the season (11 IP).

Outfielder Nyjer Morgan (22 points) was voted Brewers Top Newcomer, receiving seven first-place votes. He was followed by pitchers Zack Greinke (15 points - 1 first-place vote) and Shaun Marcum (5 points). Morgan, who was acquired from Washington on March 27 following an injury to Corey Hart, batted .304 with 4 HR, 37 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 119 games this season. He started 90 games, appearing at all three outfield positions (84g in CF, 5g in RF, 1g in LF).

Catcher Jonathan Lucroy (15 points) received four first-place votes to earn Brewers Unsung Hero honors. The other first-place votes went to outfielder Mark Kotsay, infielder/outfielder Jerry Hairston Jr. and pitchers Marco Estrada and Randy Wolf. Lucroy batted .265 with 12 HR and 59 RBI in 136 games this season.

Others to earn first-place votes were 2008 and 2009 winner Craig Counsell (2), Casey McGehee (1) and Jerry Hairston Jr. (1). McGehee finished second in the overall voting with 10 points. Hawkins also earned the Michael Harrison Award for Community Service, which is awarded by the organization. (not affiliated with the BBWAA voting).
