MADISON (WKOW) -- Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says a recall election targeting the governor would not automatically include the lieutenant governor, even though they run on the same ticket in Wisconsin.
Van Hollen issued his opinion Thursday at the request of the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board.
Democrats plan to begin their effort November 15 to recall Republican Governor Scott Walker over his controversial budget repair bill. A recall election against him could be held as early as next spring. Recall organizers are also targeting Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch.
Van Hollen, a Republican, said there would have to be separate petitions for each office and residents would have to vote separately.
