Ball, Borland collect weekly Big Ten honors

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Badger football team is getting a couple of pats on the back after beating up on Purdue on Saturday.

Montee Ball was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, after he tied Brian Calhoun's single-season touchdown record with his 24th score of the year. Ball had three rushing scores on Saturday.

But while it was all good on offense, some glaring errors popped up again on defense: more miscommunication and blown coverage. Purdue's first touchdown came on a mix-up between Aaron Henry and Kevin Claxton, and Crosby Wright was left all alone to walk it into the endzone.

There's room for improvement in the secondary, but it's not all bad on defense. Linebacker Chris Borland was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after recording two forced fumbles, an interception and 11 total tackles, 3.5 for a loss, in Saturday's win.
